From leaf loss to leaf love: confessions of a former chaos plant mum

Let me tell you a little secret: I didn’t always know the difference between a monstera and a mistake.

I used to be that plant owner – the one who’d buy a cute leafy thing on impulse, pop it on a windowsill, and hope for the best. No plan, no research, just vibes. A few weeks later? Crispy leaves, droopy stems, a guilty Google search of “is it dead or just dramatic?”

I had the heart of a plant lover….but the habits of a plant hazard.

But slowly, one leaf at a time, things started to change.

I stopped treating plants like throw pillows and started paying attention. I learned to read the signs (spoiler: yellow leaves are not a fashion statement). I found the joy in watering days, the calm in potting soil, and yes – even the excitement of spotting new growth like a proud plant mum at a nursery open day.

These days? My plants still don’t have a perfect parent. But they have someone who’s trying. Who’s learning. Who’s fallen head over heels for this whole green life thing.

And I’m not keeping it to myself.

That’s why I started Chlorophile – a friendly, no-judgement space for fellow leafy learners. Whether your plants are thriving, surviving, or somewhere in the ‘please send help’ zone, you’re welcome here.

We’re in this jungle together.
