When I first got into houseplants, I assumed it would be simple: water + light = thriving greenery, right?
Not exactly.

It turns out my plants had needs. Specific, moody, often-unspoken needs. Some hated drafts. Some hated tap water. One drama queen of a Calathea seemed to require spa-level humidity and nightly lullabies.
But over time — and a few crispy leaves — I’ve found a rhythm. And while I still wouldn’t call myself a plant expert, I’ve become a much more confident plant parent. A big part of that has been discovering the little tools and accessories that make the process easier, calmer, and (frankly) more fun.
Here are a few of my Amazon go-to’s that have genuinely made a difference:
🌿 1. A Good Moisture Meter
Before this, I was doing the old “poke your finger in the soil” method — which is about as accurate as checking the oven with your nose.
🌿 2. Cute but Functional Watering Can
Because if it’s going to live on display (which it does), it might as well look nice. Bonus: the long spout is perfect for getting into crowded pots.
🌿 3. Pebble Trays for Humidity
I was skeptical. But it actually helps — and it looks pretty zen on a windowsill. Great for fussy plants like ferns or Calatheas.
🌿 4. Sticky Pest Traps
Because fungus gnats are not part of the aesthetic. These are low-effort, super effective, and oddly satisfying.
🌿 5. Plant Mister
Okay, yes — I bought this because it was cute. But I do actually use it, and it adds a little ceremony to the routine.
Final thoughts:
You don’t need to spend loads or go full #PlantTok to enjoy houseplants. But having the right little tools around can turn frustration into calm, and chaos into chlorophyll-covered joy.
Let me know what your favourite plant accessories are — or if there’s anything you swear by that I should try!
